History

The Goa history dates back to 3rd Century BC, when it was the part of the Mauryan Empire. After the end of the Mauryan Empire, it was ruled by the Satyahanas and then by the Chalukyas of Badami. Goaalso fell in the hand of the Muslim in 1312 who ruled for almost 58 years andthey were made to evacuate by Harihara in 1370.

Harihararuled over Goa for almost 100 years and in 1469 Goawas conquered by Bahamani Sultan of Gulbaga. Later when the dynasty broke upthe state came under the control of Adil Shahas of Bijapur and then finally inthe hand of the Portuguese. Thus this history of Goa is fascinating and so eventoday its rich history can be felt visiting to some of the intricate monuments,churches and temples built under the various rulers, during their ruling powerover Goa.
